Cheng Tong, Sales Manager at Kinghelm
When we were 20 years old, what were we up to? In 2014, Cheng Tong had already graduated from university and stepped into the workforce. Shortly after arriving in Shenzhen, he met the love of his life. They naturally grew close, ventured to Haikou to start a business, bought a home, and then returned to Shenzhen to continue their careers. After a 9-year love journey, Cheng Tong and his partner finally achieved their dream of being together and working towards a bright future. By his first year at Kinghelm in 2023, Cheng Tong had already made significant strides. By February 2024, following a strong start to the year, Cheng Tong was promoted to Sales Deputy Team Leader and Business Manager for Team A at Kinghelm Sale Department. In this issue, we interview Cheng Tong to explore how he has rooted himself in sales, using a decade of hard work and perseverance to define his inspirational youth.

Cheng Tong, born in 1994 in Shangrao, Jiangxi, grew up in a family business environment. Shangrao, historically known as "Yuzhang's first gateway," means "mountainous and rich." Cheng Tong reflects, “My family ran a shop, and many of our neighbors were also in business. I started earning money for the family when I was just over ten. Back then, I only felt good about earning pocket money. Perhaps that's where my connection with sales began.” His parents’ ability to foster his independent earning from a young age was the greatest gift they could have given him.

Gifted and intelligent, Cheng Tong began primary school at the age of five and graduated from university by 20. His exceptional learning and memory skills are remarkable. He is outgoing and has a wide network, which allows him to capture crucial information from his interactions, spot trends, and judge opportunities. Cheng Tong believes, “The underlying logic of business is the information gap. The people you meet and the information you gather shape your perspective.” His journey—first to Shenzhen to explore, then to Haikou to take risks, and finally back to Shenzhen to build a career—demonstrates his ability to seize opportunities and adapt to trends. For example, in November 2022, he shifted from international logistics to the semiconductor industry, joining Kinghelm because he recognized the burgeoning opportunity in the chip market amid economic downturns and industry competition. His approach is characterized by strategic thinking, careful planning, and emotional neutrality, leading to thoughtful and empathetic problem-solving.
Kinghelm's Custom Products

Non-standard custom products have become highly influential in the manufacturing industry and are now a popular choice for industrial production. Cheng Tong explains that Kinghelm's products have expanded to include board-to-board connectors, board end connectors, small signal connectors, switches, automotive wiring harnesses, special wires for industrial, medical, and research applications, and non-standard custom items. There are two main types of custom products: one requires a customization fee for orders under 10,000 RMB, while larger orders of at least 10,000 RMB can be exempt from mold fees. Recently, Kinghelm has launched a new series of “Kinghelm” high-speed signal connectors, connectors, and ports to support AI, big data, and other industries.

Cheng Tong's talent, vision, and dedication have led to rapid growth at Kinghelm. Within about a year, he was promoted from a junior salesperson to Deputy Team Leader. His success in non-standard custom product sales, achieving monthly targets of 100,000 to 150,000 RMB, has earned him a cash reward of 300 RMB and recognition from Vice President Cheng Yujie at a company meeting. Cheng Tong, whose university major was Electrical Engineering with a focus on mechatronics, says, “Achieving small goals step by step is how you climb higher. My next goal is to exceed 200,000 RMB in monthly sales. I am working hard to achieve this and live up to the trust and expectations of the company and its leaders.”

The most beautiful youth is found in hard work. Over the past decade, Cheng Tong has chosen to study far from home, move to Shenzhen and Haikou, and now his family lives in Haikou. Though they are often apart, they remain close. Cheng Tong notes, “Haikou, as the southernmost provincial capital of China, is a great place for living and health. My parents and younger brother, who is seven years younger and just graduated from university, are there. My wife is from Guangdong, and we are currently renting in Shenzhen with my two younger sisters-in-law, reflecting the trust and regard of my father-in-law's family for me.” These qualities of integrity, responsibility, and dedication highlight the values that make Cheng Tong a remarkable individual. We hope Cheng Tong's future at Kinghelm is bright, and that he continues to paint a satisfying picture of success with his hard work and dedication.
