Vision of Struggle: Life is like tea—calm when it's still, light when it floats, able to pick it up and let it go!
Chen Liying
The most selfless love in the world is undoubtedly the love and care parents give us. From the moment we were born to the time we grew up, every step of our growth has been nurtured by our parents' meticulous care. They work hard to provide us with the opportunity to study, and they fill our lives with warmth and love. Even when they are tired and struggling, they always give us the best they can. Now that I have grown up and ventured farther on life's journey, I realize more and more the greatness of my parents, and I increasingly understand the deep meaning of the word "gratitude."
Silent Love, Deep as a Mountain
A parent's love is often subtle and deep, not seeking rewards, nor seeking to be displayed. From childhood to adulthood, there have been countless worries and cares on their part.
When we were young, our parents were our foundation. They held our hands and taught us how to walk, patiently taught us how to speak, and stayed up with us through sleepless nights. My mother gently coaxed us to sleep, while my father firmly supported the family. They provided us with warmth and a sense of security in their own way.
As we grew up, the love from our parents remained ever-present. As children, they worried about our daily needs. When we went to school, they worried about our grades. After we started working, they began to worry about our lives and future. Even though we had grown up and left home to pursue our dreams, they still silently cared for everything about us. Every time we returned home, they would prepare our favorite meals and remind us not to overwork and take care of our health. Even though they never directly said "I miss you," a look or a simple "eat more" spoke volumes more than a thousand words.
Gratitude for Parental Love
Hard Work and Selflessness Without Regret
The love parents give us is not only reflected in their words but also in their actions. They have spent their whole lives working tirelessly to pave the way for us.
When we were young, our family’s economic situation was not ideal, but our parents always did their best to fulfill our needs. In order to provide us with a better life, they worked from dawn to dusk. They were unwilling to buy new clothes for themselves, but they saved money to buy us new school bags and clothes. My father worked hard outside, while my mother took care of everything at home. At that time, we were too young to understand how hard they worked or how deep their hopes for us were.
Only later, when we entered society ourselves, did we begin to realize how hard it is to earn money and how our parents endured so much hardship to provide us with the opportunities we have now. Whether in the city or the countryside, countless parents have given their all for their children. They work in the fields, on construction sites, or in factories, all to ensure that their children can live better lives. Now that we stand on the stage of life, enjoying the results of their hard work, how could we not feel gratitude?
My Parents
Time Flies, Keep the Love
We always think our parents are still young, that there’s plenty of time to spend with them. Yet, we fail to notice how time has quietly changed everything.
The once strong and energetic parents have now turned to gray-haired elders. They who once walked with vigor now move more slowly. They who could easily pick us up are now struggling with wrinkles and even find it hard to carry heavy objects. Time has mercilessly taken away their youth, but it has also made us realize that they are the people we should cherish the most.
However, many times, we are so caught up in work and our own lives that we neglect how our parents feel. Sometimes, a phone call is enough to make them happy for a long time, yet we often think, "I’ll call later." Sometimes, a family reunion meal could make them so joyful, but we always find reasons to delay it. It’s only when we suddenly notice their hunched backs and the loneliness in their eyes that we regret having ignored them for too long.
Learn to Be Grateful, Let Love Return
Being grateful to our parents doesn’t require grand gestures. To them, true gratitude is the heartfelt concern and companionship we offer.
We should visit them often, even if it’s just for a few days, it will make them happy for a long time. A meal together, a chat, listening to their nagging, or even just sitting quietly beside them will bring them immense happiness.
If we can’t visit often, we should call more. A few simple words of concern like “Mom, Dad, how are you?” or “How is your health?” will make them feel our care. No matter how busy we are with work, we should take the time to talk to them, letting them know that we are always thinking of them.
Furthermore, we should try our best to relieve some of their life’s pressures. When they were young, they gave everything for us. Now that we are capable, we should make their later years more comfortable and joyful. Even something as simple as a warm coat, a small household appliance to improve their living conditions, or helping them fulfill a small wish can make them feel cherished and loved.
My Father and I
A parent’s love is the most selfless and greatest love in the world. They have raised us with immense hardship, without expecting anything in return. What we can do is to spend more time with them while they are still young, so that they can feel our concern and gratitude. Let our love not just stay in words but also in actions, so that we won’t have regrets when it’s too late.
May everyone cherish the time their parents are still around, always holding a heart of gratitude, and truly repaying their nurturing love. Because, no matter how vast the world or how important success is, nothing compares to the light in the home that shines for us, and nothing compares to the figure of our parents waiting for our return at home.
