Before the 25th Spring Festival, our family planned a driving trip to Yangshuo, Guilin, and we left early in the morning of the 25th, and after a few hours of driving, we arrived at Yimutian B&B on the banks of the Yulong River around 2:00 p.m. This is a very local B&B, located between the green mountains and the water, with a beautiful environment and fresh air. It was early spring when we arrived and the temperature was a little low, but the B&B staff was very considerate and had already prepared ginger tea for us to warm up. After dropping off our luggage, we settled for lunch near the B&B and then took a short nap to adjust to the fatigue of the trip.

In the evening, we enjoyed a meal of authentic Sichuan hot pot, which was spicy and flavorful enough to whet the appetite. After dinner, we strolled to the nearby Yitian West Street. Although it was close to the New Year's Eve, the street was still crowded with tourists, with small stores of all colors, full of fireworks. Just as we were immersed in the bustling atmosphere of the market, the sky suddenly started to rain, so we had to take a taxi back to the B&B. On the way, we were worried about the weather the next day, fearing that it would affect the tour plan.

The next morning, we opened the window and saw the sun shining, although the temperature was still low, but we had prepared thick clothing. After breakfast, we went to the nearby ferry port and bought the raft tickets.

The experience of traveling downstream on a bamboo raft is unforgettable. The boatman skillfully maneuvers the bamboo raft, and the karst landscape on both sides of the river provides a panoramic view of the strange peaks and rocks. The clear water, verdant mountains and relaxing atmosphere made the old saying “Guilin's landscape is the best in the world” seem particularly apt. After the one-hour rafting trip, we took the ferry back to the Sheung Ship Ferry Terminal.

On the way back, my dad, Song Shiqiang, recalled that during the Chinese New Year, a 100-meter “dragon” made up of bamboo rafts would parade along the river. In the “dragon” around, there are nearly 10,000 river lamps lit up the river, like a huge golden shiny dragon swimming in the water, but unfortunately this time is not coincidental, we did not see this magnificent spectacle.

At lunchtime, we walked into a local restaurant. Although the speed of the food was not as fast as we would have liked, the deliciousness of the local specialty, taro in Lipu, was enough to make up for this small shortcoming. The taro was so sticky and soft, with a delicate texture, that we unanimously decided to buy a few of the local specialty taro to take home.

In the afternoon, we rented some small donkeys and visited the Ten Mile Gallery along the banks of the Yulong River. Compared with the scenery we saw while rafting in the morning, the land scenery here has a different flavor. The rolling hills and oddly shaped rocks presented different beauty at different angles and under different light.

When we returned to the B&B in the evening, we set up a hot pot and raised a glass of wine. After the meal, some people played mahjong, some people were busy taking pictures, laughing and having a pleasant evening.

The last day's schedule was to visit [Ginzan Rock]. First, we went to the [Earth Memory Exhibition Hall] next to Ginziyan. In the exhibition hall, fossils of living creatures from various periods since the birth of the earth are displayed in detail, especially those lifelike dinosaur fossils, which are fascinating. The Meteorites from Outer Space section reveals the mysteries of the universe, and with detailed explanations, it gives you an in-depth understanding of meteorite research.

The second half of the exhibition hall is the ore and stalactite display area, a wide range of ore crystals, colorful and different forms. The gift area near the exit displayed exquisite jewelry made from slices of meteorites and ores, which were expensive but amazingly crafted.

We then entered the [Ginzuyan Cave]. Each person received a guide machine and began the tour of the underground wonders. The whole cavern of about 2.5 kilometers, stalactites in a thousand shapes and sizes, or like silk flowing, or like ice hanging upside down, each landscape tells of nature's ingenious workmanship. The enthusiastic staff also took photos for us, and at the exit there is an option to buy framed photos to keep as souvenirs.

After the visit, we had lunch nearby and set off on our return journey. The moments on the banks of the Yu Long River were like a slowly unfolding ink scroll, leaving an eternal imprint in our memories. Yangshuo, a small city surrounded by mountains, has a unique way of letting us feel the true meaning of poetic dwelling.

On this trip to Yangshuo, Guangxi, we not only enjoyed “the landscape of Guilin is the best in the world, and the landscape of Yangshuo is the best in Guilin”, but also tasted the authentic food, and more importantly, created an unforgettable family memories. Between the mountains and the water, what we gained is not only the beautiful scenery, but also the warm time for the family to get together. We are looking forward to revisit next time to experience the magnificent beauty of the landscape again!
