SMA connectors not only provide solid support for the safe transmission of signals, but also support the stable operation of modern communication technology.
The SMA connector is a coaxial connector for high frequency microwave applications, featuring a wide frequency band, excellent performance, high reliability and long life. It was originally developed for 12 GHz designs, but is now available for applications in the frequency range up to 26.5 GHz.
● Standard dimensions for SMA connectors include insert diameter, insert length, and nut sizes of 3.172mm, 9.8mm, and 1/4-36 threads, respectively.
● Design features of SMA connectors include their threaded construction, which allows for a smaller size and higher performance characteristics. In addition, the SMA connectors have a 0.25-inch connector diameter, are suitable for 50-ohm and 75-ohm cables, and support signal frequencies ranging from DC to 18 GHz, with some types available up to 26.5 GHz, with a characteristic impedance of 50 ohms.
The maximum power that SMA connectors can withstand is 600W. This figure is from a specific model of the SMA905 laser fibre and indicates that this connector is designed for high power applications and can support power outputs of up to 600W. This connector is suitable for a wide range of applications including, but not limited to, telecommunication, networking, wireless communication, as well as testing and measuring instruments.
● Physical Construction And Size: SMA connectors have a threaded interface, usually with a male plus hole at one end and a female plus pin at the other. The SMP connector is a push-in interface, the interface size is smaller, suitable for applications that require ultra-miniaturised design.
● Operating Frequency: SMA connectors typically operate between 18GHz and 26.5GHz, while SMP connectors can operate at frequencies up to 40GHz or higher.
● Applications: SMP connectors are commonly used in equipment requiring high frequency transmission and miniaturised designs, such as high frequency coaxial modules and radar systems, while SMA connectors are more common in wireless communications and other RF applications.
● Through Hole: This type of connection is suitable for inserting the SMA connector directly into the holes of the PCB board and is usually used for applications requiring high mechanical strength and stability. To facilitate soldering, the metal part of the connector may be gold or tin plated.
● SMT: SMT connections are made by placing the SMA connector on the PCB and using solder paste for surface mount soldering. This method is suitable for designs with high space requirements or where a tighter layout is required.
● High reliability: the connector adopts SMA interface, which has good electrical and mechanical properties and high reliability.
● Wide range of applications: the connector has a wide frequency range and can be applied to a variety of frequency range applications.
● Space-saving: the connector adopts elbow style, which can be applied to occasions with narrow space, saving space.
In the evolution of RF technology, SMA connectors, with their excellent design and wide range of applications, continue to provide a solid signal bridge for all kinds of high-frequency equipment and promote the development of wireless communication technology.
