Betting on AI, AMD officials announced a $665 million acquisition

Super Semiconductor (AMD) has announced that it will acquire Europe's largest private AI lab Silo AI with a value of about $665 million and has signed a final agreement. AMD sees it as another important step in the company's strategy to provide end-to-end AI solutions based on open standards and building close partnerships with the global AI ecosystem.

According to the report, the Silo AI team consists of world-class AI scientists and engineers with extensive experience in developing tailored AI models, platforms and solutions for leading companies in the cloud, embedded and terminal computing market.

Silo AI Headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, operating in Europe and North America, focusing on end-to-end AI-driven solutions that help customers quickly and easily integrate AI into their products, services and operations. Their work involves different markets, and their clients include Allianz, Philips, Rolls-Royce, and Unilever. In addition to the SiloGen model platform, Silo AI has created the state-of-the-art open-source multilingual LLM on the AMD platform, such as Poro and Viking.

Following the acquisition, Silo AI CEO and co-founder Peter Sarlin will continue to lead the Silo AI team to report to AMD Senior Vice President Vamsi Boppana as part of the AMD AI Group. The acquisition is expected to close in the second half of 2024.
