On June 26, 2024, in Shanghai, China, STMicroelectronics showcased the ST4SIM-300 solution at MWC Shanghai (June 26-28), compliant with the upcoming GSMA eSIM IoT deployment standard, also known as SGP.32. This standard introduces specialized features to facilitate the management of IoT devices connecting to cellular networks.
Agostino Vanore, Edge Device Validation and M2M Cellular Marketing Manager at STMicroelectronics, stated, "The ST4SIM-300 IoT eSIM solution leverages the upcoming GSMA new standards, enhancing design flexibility, simplifying network operator switching operations, and streamlining the management process for a large number of connected devices. In a world where connectivity is increasing and security is paramount, the new product will enable seamless global asset tracking, connect smart devices to the cloud, securely handle data generated by billions of devices, and support healthcare services, smart infrastructure, cities, factories, and homes."
Unlike existing specifications for M2M eSIM cards and Consumer eSIM cards, the IoT eSIM card standard (SGP.32) is designed to meet today's IoT deployment needs. STMicroelectronics' ST4SIM-300 maximizes the automation of Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP), enabling easy bulk management of device SIM profiles and supporting remote switching by network operators, eliminating the need for physical card replacement. The ST4SIM-300 eSIM card complies with the latest 5G standards, facilitating deployment in devices with limited user interface capabilities and Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) devices.
The ST4SIM-300 eSIM card is available in various form factors, including Wafer-Level Chip-Scale Packaging (WLCSP), suitable for devices such as smart meters, GPS trackers, asset monitors, remote sensors, medical wearables, and similar applications.
